Riley Zimmermann, Bass & Cello Teacher:
Riley Zimmermann received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Duquesne University, and his Master of Music in Double Bass Performance and Advanced Musical Studies Certificate from Carnegie Mellon University.
Riley has extensive experience in both performance and teaching. Riley has toured with the Western-PA-based Bluegrass band, The Jakob’s Ferry Stragglers, and the Vancouver-based Celtic band, The Town Pants. He has also performed with the Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic, the Sarasota Opera Orchestra, the New World Symphony in Miami, the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, and the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra. His achievements include being awarded first place in the International Society of Bassists’ double bass competition (orchestral division), and being named a regular member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. In addition to teaching private lessons, Riley is currently a string orchestra teacher at Marshall Elementary in the North Allegheny School District.
Riley lives in Pittsburgh, PA with his wife, Emily Tarantino, who is also a bassist.
