Lauren Emrich, Voice Teacher:

Lauren Corcoran Emrich is a native and current resident of Pittsburgh. She is the 2019 winner of an Encouragement Award at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Pittsburgh District. An active concert soloist, Lauren recently performed with the Pittsburgh Youth Concert Orchestra in concert and with The University of Akron Choirs as the soprano solo in Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem. Favorite concert performances include: soprano soloist Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and soprano soloist Carmina Burana. Additionally, she is sought after for recital performances of classical and musical theater repertoire. Lauren performs with Bryan Sable, piano, and Nolan Petote, clarinet, as a trio ensemble in the Pittsburgh Area. Equally sought after for choral singing, Lauren sing with the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh as a core soprano, Voces Solis Summer Singers, Resonance Works Festival Chorus, and Coraopolis United Methodist Church Chancel Choir.
Some of Lauren’s favorite past productions include: Ivy Smith On The Town, Lady Macbeth Macbeth, Laetitia The Old Maid and the Thief, Madame Goldentrill The Impresario, Rosalinda Die Fledermaus, Musetta La Bohème, Rosina Il Barbiere di Sigiliva, and Gretel Hansel and Gretel. Lauren has been privileged to sing for some of the world’s top performers and coaches in masterclass including: Renée Fleming, Lisette Oropesa, Lawrence Brownlee, Enza Ferrari, Dina Kuznetsova, Gary Lehman and Susan Foster. Notable competitions include: Encouragement Award MONC Pittsburgh District (2019), Finalist NATS National Student Auditions (2016 & 2017), First Place Voices of Canton Scholarship Competition (2016), and Second Place Tuesday Musical Scholarship Competition (2016).
Lauren maintains the Lauren Corcoran Emrich (LCE) Voice Studio, an active studio in the Pittsburgh area. Lauren has been teaching private voice instruction since 2010 throughout western Pennsylvania and north eastern Ohio at locations including The University of Akron, Moon Area High School's After School Lesson Program, The Stage Door Dance and Theatre Arts Academy, the Dana Vocal Performance Clinic, and Shenango High School. Lauren is the current vocal director for Moon Area High School’s Drama Club productions. She is sought after for coachings of musical theater productions and voice festival materials.
Lauren’s studio focuses on the whole singer with work on vocal technique, music theory, sightsinging, and acting. Lauren provides monthly masterclasses for her students to grow and explore these skills with topics such as, Vocal Pedagogy & Health, Audition Technique, Mock Auditions, Acting for Singers, and more! Lauren begins students as young as 8 years old through adults of all ages. Lauren’s extensive background in classical and musical theater styles of singing, lend her to teach a multitude of styles including classical, musical theater, pop, jazz, contemporary, and more.
Lauren holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from The University of Akron and Bachelor of Music in Vocal Music Education from the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University. Lauren has continued her education with Opera Western Reserve’s Young Artist Program (2011-2016), Bay View Summer Art Song and Recording Seminar (2016), OperaWorks Advanced Artist Program (2014), and Oberlin in Italy Concert Artist (2013).
