Julia Simeone, Violin Teacher:
Julia Simeone has been surrounded by music ever since she was born and violin became an instant passion for her when she started learning at a very young age. Julia graduated from Seton Hill University with a degree in Psychology and from Slippery Rock University with a degree in Violin Performance. While at Slippery Rock, Julia studied violin with Dr. Warren Davidson and cello with Dr. Paige Riggs. Julia actively performs around Pittsburgh. She is a member of the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra, concertmaster of the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra, and frequently plays in musicals for various productions.
Julia is a very enthusiastic and patient teacher. She loves having the opportunity to share music with others and loves helping her students grow as musicians and people. As a Suzuki-Certified violin teacher, Julia believes that learning music not only assists students in growing their artistic capabilities, but also expands into every aspect of their life. As a psychology major, Julia learned how important it is to be empathetic of others’ situations, so she recognizes that every student is different and strives to tailor each lesson to suit each student’s needs. Julia ensures that each lesson is a positive and enjoyable experience by maintaining open communication between the student, parent, and teacher.
In addition, between 2017 and 2018, Julia completed an extensive research project on the Suzuki and O’Connor Violin Methods, which helped broaden her understanding of different views on these styles of teaching. Through this research, Julia utilizes these viewpoints to assist her teaching by adding in additional elements of learning.
When Julia is not playing or teaching violin, she enjoys running, writing, painting, and spending time with her wonderful family. She looks forward to meeting you and your student and is excited to start lessons with you soon!
