Bruce Lazier, Trombone Teacher:

In the 8th grade, Bruce Lazier started teaching private music lessons to kids from his suburban neighborhood near Denver, Colorado. Aside from a few brief interludes he has been at it ever since. He enjoys seeing kids develop into both good musicians as well as vibrant and productive individuals.
In addition to his passion for teaching, he has restored a Victorian house in the South Side Slopes neighborhood of Pittsburgh, travelled the United States, Mexico, Canada, and Europe extensively, enjoys bicycling, and would love gardening if that didn’t involve mowing the lawn and pulling weeds.
Bruce has performed extensively as a professional trombonist. His performance credits include back up bands for Sammy Davis, Jr., Mel Torme, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Lou Rawls, Rosemary Clooney, Liza Minnelli, Debbie Reynolds, The Temptations, and Lena Horne, among many others. He has performed under the batons of Aaron Copeland, Michel Legrand and John Williams with various symphony orchestras and was a member of the River City Brass for twelve years.
Bruce is the founder of the annual concert “Trombones on Ice” which features 120 to 130 brass players performing seasonal favorites at such venues as the PPG Wintergarden, the South Side Works, and Bellefield Hall Auditorium. This past year and this year the venue was and will be a 214 year old Harmonist barn in Harmony, PA.
Bruce has resided in Pittsburgh for the past 29 years. He is a graduate of The University of Northern Colorado (Bachelor of Music) and Yale University (Master of Music).
